Sample Answer:
Now we are in the era of trade, where every individual want to achieve high level position in their work place. However, the most of the organizations prefer male candidates to be managerial level even though there are more than halve of the employees are woman. People think there should be reserve some portion for female. Hence, I believe that the main goal of companies is to earn profit rather than allocating the men and women.
In 21st century, men and women are equally engage to take the responsibilities of business organization and perform as a good team together. To lead the company, employee should have some special qualities. For instance, leadership, communication, and good educational background such kinds of skills are necessary to compete for managerial level position. But the scenario is little different, most of the company prefer male candidates on the higher position. Since, male staffs have adequate time to perform their duties in office. On the other hand, women have more obligations toward their family and our society have very narrow concept towards working woman. They believe that only men can able to handle the financial and decision making part of company.
However, some of the companies have very positive view regarding working women. They give equal priority to women in such higher position. They thought that women can better understand employee emotions and their obstacles, they can motivate them to be honest and enhance the work efficiency. Similarly, women have more perfection and dedication then men towards their work.
In conclusion, men and women are the part of a same coin. They have their own qualities and specialties. I believe that there should not be any discrimination between male and female by their gender on the process of selecting employees. The qualification and abilities should be give as first priority rather than gender.
Sample Answer : (Disagreement)
In recent years, the role of women in society has changed to a great extent and their contribution is increasingly important. However, it is noticeable that higher positions in firms are still managed by men, although women account for half of the workforce in developed countries. While some people claim that women should be promoted more to hold these positions, I personally disagree with this idea. My disagreement is not about women working in these positions, rather allocating a certain percentage for them.
The first reason for my opinion is that recruiting should not be based on candidates’ gender, but qualification and aptitude. This is because choosing people who cannot adapt working condition will make companies confront with many difficulties- even this can affect profit, productivity and public image of a company. For instance, in my brother’s workplace, a woman was recruited in a higher position only because she was a relative of the owner. In few months the management had to replace her with a more competent employee. Therefore, a company should always choose the best people in order to develop its operation. If a female candidate seems more promising or if an existing female employee has excellent capabilities, there should not be any problem in recruiting or promoting a woman in a higher position. However important posts in a company should not be reserved for women only.
Again, if percentage or number is the most crucial factor, I would say children should also be promoted to higher positions in a company in a developing country as their percentage in factories and industries in those countries is also high. Furthermore, despite the development of our society, women still play an important role in our family. This can have negative effects on organisations if they cannot leave their personal worries behind and work in decision-making and important positions.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that employees should be recruited according to their expertise and talent. It is therefore recommended that women who want to play important roles in an organisation should attempt to gain high qualifications, skills. They should not be favoured only because of their gender.
Model Answer : (Agreement)
Women’s contribution to building civilization is equally important to that of men and given the chances they can be equally adept to take responsibilities in higher management in a company. Gender equality is no longer a concept, but a proven way to accelerate the progress and therefore I strongly believe that a portion of higher positions in companies should be reserved for females.
To begin with, half of the world population is women and their empowerment determines the overall progress of a nation and its economy. If these women are kept away from decision-making positions, true empowerment of women would become impossible. To cite an example, when half of the decision makers in a large company are females, they can bring diverse perspectives and innovation to the company. Some of the Asian countries including Bangladesh and India have incorporated reserved seats in parliaments for women, and these female leaders have done a great deal to encourage women to actively contribute to the country’s politics and business sector.
Furthermore, women in higher positions like in police force can better understand the crimes and injustice involving women and can propose better solutions to these issues. Similarly, almost every large company has a great portion of female consumers and having some female key employees would only ensure ways to attract more female customers and better serve them.
To conclude, allocating a certain portion of higher positions for women is not a courtesy to the women. Rather it ensures balanced working environment, innovation, happy female customers and women empowerment which are key ingredients to a sustainable progress.
